La entrega de los premios Globos de Oro, otorgados por la Prensa Extranjera de Hollywood se sigue en todo el mundo, esta vez con la conducción de Jimmy Fallon. El hotel Beverly Hilton fue el centro de atención de la ceremonia comenzó con un musical que funcionaba como claro homenaje a La La Land protagonizado por Fallon y diversos actores, desde John Travolta, pasando por Rami Malek y Justin Timberlake hasta los protagonistas de Stranger Things.
Posteriormente, Ryan Reynolds y Emma Stone presentaron el premio a mejor actor de reparto, que fue para Aaron Taylor-Johnson por Animales nocturnos y en la misma categoría se impuso la favorita para el Oscar Viola Davis por Fences de Denzel Washington. El galardón fue sucedido por una categoría televisiva: mejor actor en drama. ¿El ganador? Billy Bob Thornton por Goliath. Asimismo, Tracee Ellis Ross ganó el premio a mejor actriz televisiva de comedia por la sitcom Black-ish y en la misma categoría Atlanta se consagró como la mejor comedia del año y Donald Glover subió a recibir el premio.
